The poetry of the earth is never dead. ~John Keats
I was recently asked where I go to shoot my photos. The answer is really not far at all. I am fortunate enough to live in a rural area. An area where there is access to wildlife on a daily basis. The area is surrounded by woods, creeks and country roadsides filled with wild flowers.
I am also in walking distance of a nearby river which allows even more access to nature. I believe that there is beauty everywhere especially in nature. Sometimes the beauty just needs to be shown from a different point of view.
A plant may be seen by many as just an annoying weed. For instance, the Arctium lappa (Greater burdock) is such a plant that many see as a mere weed. Yet when photographing that plant in bloom, Mother Nature’s art work shines through magnificently with purplish blooms. I especially enjoy photographing plants that are classified as weeds because I see a different side, the artistic side of the plant. When there is an insect on this plant, the beauty is immediately made greater.
I am a firm believer that one doesn’t need to travel a great distance to see nature’s beauty. Nature’s beauty can be viewed by opening your eyes as well as your heart.
