May the Wings of the butterfly kiss the sun--
And find your shoulder to light on,
To bring you luck, happiness and riches,
Today, Tomorrow and Beyond
I love photographing butterflies. I just wish they would hold still at times. The Monarch Butterflies have been my recent focus. The warm summer months have brought many of brightly colored insects out to be viewed. The Monarch’s are just one such insect.
According to the Monarch butterfly website, (www.monarch-butterfly.com) the Monarch is a remarkable insect. The Monarch will go through four stages in their lifetime. Obviously my focus has been on the last stage or the adult butterfly stage. The Monarch stages include the egg, larvae (caterpillar), the pupa (chrysalis) and finally the adult butterfly.
I find the insects fascinating. I can literally spend hours photographing the beautifully marked butterfly. The website also states that the Monarch Butterflies suffer population losses. I cannot imagine a summer without seeing the Monarchs. I hope the numbers will slowly increase and the population levels rise in effort to keep these remarkable insects around for generations to come.
